The United States Agency for International Development-funded Center of Excellence for Energy, or COE, welcomed 31 Egyptian exchange students to the Arizona State University campus this month. The students were greeted by the COE team with an orientation breakfast and shopping trip to orient them to the neighborhood and where to get necessities. They attended an International Welcome for all ASU international students hosted by the International Students and Scholars Center and InfernoFest, where they got into the Sun Devil spirit.
The 31 students are part of the COE exchange program for energy students at the project’s Egyptian partner universities Ain Shams University, Mansoura University and Aswan University. There are three graduate students and 28 undergraduate students.
The undergraduate students are studying energy and renewable energy engineering, renewable and sustainable engineering, power and electrical machines engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanical power stations and communications and computer engineering. They have been enrolled in classes aligning with their technical fields of study. All students will also be taking courses in energy transition and policy, entrepreneurship and innovation.
If you see the students on campus or in your classes, please be sure to give them a warm welcome.
